Q. What is restitution? A. When the court orders you to pay restitution it is ordering you to pay back the damage you caused, both to the state and to the victim(s).
What happens if I don’t pay
You are responsible for paying the victim restitution because you caused the loss. For example, you might be ordered to pay for medical bills, funeral expenses, counseling, wage loss, the cost of repairing damaged property or insurance deductibles.
